pree x33 Asked: How do i get rid of a dried popped pimple? HELP!?

So i tried to pop this pimple i had on my chin and it didn't work out. i guess it wasn't ready to pop. So i put my clean and clear acne spot treatment and some toothpaste to dry it up. Now it feels like really dry and kind of crispy. and i'm FREAKING OUT because i take my senior pictures in one day. i usually don't get pimples so i don't know what to do. i really don't care about the redness cause i can cover that up. i just need to pimple or whatever it is to be smaller. Please help me <img src='http://www.bestacnetreatmentinfo.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt="icon sad How do i get rid of a dried popped pimple?
Dr Demento Answered:
Do not touch or pop the pimple. It will only make the pimple more obvious and risk infection and scarring. Instead, take up the following routine, twice a day, until it disappears.

Wash your hands thoroughly before you touch your face.

Wash your face gently but thoroughly with a mild, medicated soap and warm water.
The water shouldn't be steaming hot, it should be just a little warm.Do not use a washcloth, as the scrubbing action could distribute bacteria to other parts of your face. Use your hands.Wash for about 30 seconds.

Pat your skin dry with a towel.
Always pat, don't wipe or rub. Wiping can move bacteria on your face and spread it by redistributing it in other places.

Apply mandelic acid, benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid topical cream on the pimple. Mandelic acid has antibacterial properties which will kill the acne causing bacteria, Propionibacterium acnes. If the spot is under the skin surface and hurts when touched, use benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic Acid should work well for all other acne spots.

After topical treatment is dry, apply a basic face moisturizer (preferably allergy-tested, fragrance free, and oil free). Without moisturizing, the skin around the pimple can dry and irritate your skin, possibly making the pimple more inflamed and noticeable. Some contain a mild sunscreen, which is often recommended with some acne washes and medications.

Cover the pimple with medicated concealer (optional).8Dermabrasion removes the redness. A simple natural home remedy for this is to use the skin inside of an egg shell. Google "dermabrasion with eggs".

Rachael C Asked: What are some good shampoo/conditioners for people prone to acne?

I've had normal/severe acne since I was about twelve and it started to clear up a bit last summer when I was 15. I'm 16 now and still get break outs but it's nothing how it used to be when I was younger. I almost would never get acne on my forehead, but as of recent it's starting to look more and more pebbly. My only guess was that it was something to do with the shampoo and conditioner that I use. I used to use this daily clarifying shampoo that never made me break out but it made my hair VERY dry. I have been alternating between a s/c for longer hair by Herbal Essences and just cheap Suave s/c, and my hair has been looking really good but my face has seen better days. Are there any shampoo/conditioners out there that will help with my hair and my acne?

Answers:

Blair Bear Answered:
I think it's not about the shampoo nor the conditioner . Always shampoo your hair . Just don't get your hair on your face . Hair contains sebum that can clogged your pores which then result in acne .

Mark N Answered:
Depends on diet (solids and liquids), hereditary, stress, age/hormones, gender, pillowcase, and facial soap. Overdrying can be a bit of a Catch-22, so anything you change, do so in moderation. The basics are very easy to follow and the rest is just up to biology to annoy you. I got acne when I was older, but here's what I know: you could just be genetically predispositioned to have oily or acne prone skin. Dead skin cells, dirt and oil clog pores and if you're oily, it just increases the potential to get a zit. Stress is a huge factor so if you can get support from family and friends, don't let the zits shame you into hiding alone. I think women/estrogen are natrual anti-zit hormones. Keep your pillowcase clean. 100% cotton, white, maybe look into what detergent mum uses but that shouldn't make a difference. Salicylic acid facial soap. You can do a bezol peroxide soap or cream, but this stains shirts! You sweat lightly throughout the day and this eventually turns collars pink and even the area down your chest and back sometimes. Takes a few wearings, but I've ruined hundreds of dollars of shirts before I realized this. Washing after exercise or excessive persperation helps, but not much you can do about sweating. Don't forego exercise just because you think it will cause zits. Diet is always a mystery to me. I think alcohol (more than 1 drink) sparks my acne, so that won't be an issue for you, hopefully. I was going down the path researching pH balance in diet and effect on acne. I am pretty sure the old world knowledge of chocolate causing acne is just wrong. I wonder if oily food can cause acne. I have more questions than answers when it comes to diet.

I did notice quite consistently that Pantene Pro-V causes breakouts. I have no idea. Read the ingredients and you tell me why. I'm not a chemist. Redken has men's products that I use regularly. Neutrogena has some that seemed to do well, by not irritating the acne. I haven't tried Herbal Essences or Suave. I like Clean and Clear Salicylic Acid face wash. They also have an oil-free sal acid moisturizer. Astringents may be a little over the top, but you can get cotton pads and an alcohol astringent, but it tends to be over drying and too tempting to scrub with the pad, making things worse. If you do the pad/astringent thing, go very lightly and not every day. A light 5% or less benzol peroxide cream might benefit in problem areas at night, just remember the staining part for pillowcases and sheets.

haha I hate zits and it's ruining my dating life. I think it's even cost me job interviews not because they don't hire zits, but because I was so self conscious. I wrote a lot because I'm passionate about helping people who have problem acne. Dermatologists can help, but it's really just about the basics and consistency. Once you have clear skin, it's easier to keep it. Once you have lots of zits for an extended period of time, it raises the bar on the level of effort going into clearing up. I feel your pain, you'll do fine. Just don't squeeze them, because that does several horrible things that you can research online. If you have a whitehead, usually putting a Salicylic Acid spot treatment on for a few hours will unclog the pore enough so that when you take a hot shower at least two hours later, it will open up with light wiping with a face cloth, after you've been in the shower a few minutes. Good luck kiddo!
