I'm a 15 year old male, turning 16 in a month. I have suffered from acne since I was about 13 (Although, it seems like it's been forever).

I have tried various cleansers/medications on the shelf in drug stores, such as Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Clearisil, Oxy, etc. They haven't done anything except cleanse my face and probably keep my acne from going haywire. My doctor also prescribed me Epiduo (TacTuo), Stievamycin, and a strong Benzoyl Peroxide cream that I forget the name of.

However, they haven't really done anything. They reduce my acne for a week or two, but then it seems like my body just starts to become immune to them because it goes back to its bad self. I know I don't have horrible acne, or cystic acne, I really do know that. But I have moderate acne. I get it on my chest, belly, arms, neck, back, shoulders, face, and very rarely my groin area. It's the worst on my back, shoulders, neck and face. My back, neck and shoulders are a lot worse than my face. My face alternates between light, not very noticable acne to moderate, noticable acne. However, my back, shoulders and neck always have moderate-severe very noticable acne that is just everywhere.

I've tried cutting things out of my diet as well, and nothing has worked. I wash my face twice a day, use what my doctor gives me, change my pillow case every second day, etc. Nothing works. My doctor is the type that acts like people's acne isn't bad, even though it is. I want to ask him if he'll give me Accutane, but I'm pretty sure he'll say no. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do or say to him to convice him, or something. I am aware of all the side effects of Accutane, and my parents back me up on it. I don't want to try anything else but Accutane, because I know it'll only work for a week or two then stop working, I just want it gone already. Three of my friends have went on it and the only side effects they experienced were dry skin, and now they have no acne at all.

I also should mention I have extremely oily skin.

I am 17, have mild acne and my dermatologist recommended that I use the 4% Benzoyl Peroxide cream wash by Panoxyl. I have used it everyday, once in the morning and once at night, for about a month. There was one week where I used it every other day.

I dont have sensetive skin at all and my skin was on the oily side but after I started using Panoxyl it burned. It was tolerable but my skin like around my jawline started peeling and was pink and dry so it looks really weird like liver spots or something because I have a tan. I can say though that my skin looks smooth and clear but how long will it be pink and dry? Will I get my color back?

i personally dislike benzoyl peroxide i feel like its way to harsh on skin and it does burn. i have sensitve skin and it literally burned my face like my face was red. but i use sacylic acid ( dont know how to spell) and it is also a acne med but is found in many store bought acne washes and stuff. you can look for it at walgreens, cvs, walmart, publix, etc. i feel like it definity calmer and less harsh then benzoyl and it works great on me.

Benzoyl Peroxide is the best ingredient getting rid of acne. As told by Dr. Oz (seen that show?)

No, that'd fix Dry/Cracked skin, NOT Acne!

None of that will help cure acne at all. You should be using Benzoyl Peroxide, antibiotics, tretinoin,adapalene, or Azelaic acid. Consult a dermatologist. That moisturizer won't do anything so get rid of it.

No those are ingredients for moisturiser which would make your face more oily, causing more acne. Try witchhazel and teatree. Hope this helps

I'm 14 and basically i've had spots for quite a while now. I would describe my skin as quite oily. I've tried almost everything.
the things i've tried:
tea tree oil
rose water
Clearasil
hot water then cold water
Benzoyl Peroxide from the doctors
cucumber face mask
washing face twice a day
all of these have got rid of most of the spots at the moment i'm still using Benzoyl Peroxide with Clearasil over night wash and it gets rid of most of my spots but the Benzoyl Peroxide makes my face quite dry, red and flaky so i only use it every other day. it doesn't get rid of all the spots and i ws wondering that if anyone who no's what to use or suffered from acne and managed to get rid of it would help me out? any help would be most appreciated it would be nice to feel confident again! THANKS

first of all
dont touch your face because oil on your hands will get onto your face that might encourage pimples to grow
also wash your face often to wash away the oil
and if you have dandruff,it can also affect the growth of pimples (idk why, i just read it somewhere, but anything will help) so use anti-damdruff shampoo.
btw i use proactive cleanser, i forgot what's it called because i left it somewhere, but it looks like a small white bottle and has little beads that you can't see but feel
and some acne cleansers and home-solutions are for everyone

Try using Acne paper, does not make your face flaky but is good for absorbing grease. Try not to touch your face because the germs can make it worse. Wash every sing day, you can use FreeDerm ( Face cream, look it up).

I use proactive on my skin. But i only use their cleanser, I never do the whole 3 step program coz it's way too harsh on my skin. Proactive worked for me, and now my skin is completely clear. But I have also heard of horror stories from other ppl. You just gotta experiment and see what works for you.

I'm sorry, I really don't know about laser treatments, or topical solutions or anything. I had acne for the longest time and it wasn't bad, but my skin certainly wasn't clear. I tried a bunch of different products, and honestly nothing really worked. There was one cream that worked at first (Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide gel), and cleared my skin up fast, but then it's like skin became immune to it or something and it just didn't work anymore.

I read a ton of things that all said that healthy eating and exercise is the best solution for clear skin. Personally, I'm a lots of junk food and little to no physical activity kinda girl. I'm naturally very skinny, so I've always been able to eat whatever and want and stay slim, so what was the point on diet and exercise? But after nothing working and getting really frustrated I decided to try it.

I cut out soda and fast food, junk food, things with high sugar levels. I ran everyday for about 20 minutes. And surprisingly, my skin cleared up pretty fast! Obviously you still need to wash your face at least twice a day, and I still used the cream that wasn't so much working anymore, but honestly, healthy eating and exercise is the best way to go. I didn't stay on that strict a diet for long, only about 2 weeks. I'm still now on a diet and eat healthy, but the strict diet was more of a cleanse until I could regulate it. So now I eat healthy foods, and exercise, and wash my face and my skin is clear.

the best natural ways to clearing up your skin is drinking plenty of water every day, eating healthy food and exercise because this eliminates all the toxins from your body. It is also good to wash your face every day and clean your face from any make up when you go to bed. I wouldnt have a clue about laser treatment, sorry.

So I was given Retin-A (.025%), Erythromycin (2%), and Benzoyl Peroxide (5%).
I am directed to use erythromycin and benzoyl peroxide in the morning.

Am I to use erythromycin before using retin-a at night, also? Thanks
